etiquette around journal name changes?
Feb. 29th, 2024 11:56 amwhat, if anything, is the established etiquette around changing your journal name? i saw that it's $15 to get a name change token for the same journal, which is a bit steep for me. however, i also noticed you can make a new journal with the same email, so that seems like another (free) way to change your name, provided you don't mind either leaving your old posts behind or moving them over.
since i hardly have any posts on this journal to move, i was wondering if it would be considered weird to just hop over to a new journal and retire/delete this one? because it does feel like a loophole that's technically acceptable, but maybe not the most polite, lol.

last day to sign up for mini_wrimo 2023

vriddy , today i learned about
mini_wrimo , a spin-off of nanowrimo where you can set your own goals for daily word counts, as low as 100. given that today is the last day for signups, i hopped on board, even if i'm not confident i'll remember to write every single day. i've managed to pass on nano so far this november (after having failed who knows how many years), although uncharacteristically, i did outline a story idea i've had kicking around my head for ages, which i'll probably focus on for mini-wrimo.
the project is a realistic fantasy/romance focusing on a king who is deposed and his escape to safety, struggle to regain the throne, and discovery of love along the way. (i read a lot of romance novels, it was basically inevitable that i would try to write one.) i doubt i'll get very far into writing it, and maybe it even needs to be a series rather than a single book, but we'll see. i don't really have any goals other than trying to hit my 100 words every day.
i've seen that some people post their daily writing to their journals, and i won't be doing that, lol. i haven't even given anything proper names yet, so there's a lot of [She] and [Name This] littering my draft. plus, i just don't have the confidence that my prose is any good.
anyway, if someone manages to read this in the next few hours, there's still time to sign up, if you want.

given the recent news about financial struggles and possible reorganization of my two primary social media sites - tumblr and pillowfort - i thought i'd join a site that's been around for a while as a safer backup (compared to bluesky or cohost, sites i'm also on; arguably i have too many social media accounts, but that's another post).
i also think i'll back up some posts from my pillowfort, mostly from my taylor swift community (that i shamefully haven't posted to for months, despite thinking about it daily). i'll probably scroll through my tumblr to see if anything is worth preserving, but at this point i doubt it. otherwise, i'll try to find some old/new people to follow and see what i make of things here, i guess?
